Preparing to Make Wine

So how did this all get started? The short version (which I will add to as the story goes on) is not that I woke up one day and decided I wanted to make wine. The books I received several years back from my wife gave me insight into the winemaking business and a vision. From that point, it has been constant education, meetings, and classes, in the hours stolen between work and being with the family. Washington State University offers a online Enology and Viticultural self study program, I completed many courses from there, everything from Winery Economics to Wine Chemistry. I also have read several winemaking books recommended by professors and acclaimed winemakers and engorged myself in the day to day industry news, modern winemaking techniques, and future technology. I'm obsessed with great wine and wine making! Ask my wife! I have met with several different wineries throughout the last year on many different occasions to learn the hands on aspect of making the wine and how to operate all the machinery. With this as a basis, the mission continues...... making great wine for OC!
